The Brush
Two brushes. One photographer. Black and white to color. The process begins with an image. Manipulated to achieve a simple black and white outline of the original color file. Then printed onto 8.5 by 11 matte photo paper. A camera is positioned directly above the printed image and a girl begins to paint. She is given no instruction other than to paint the image how she sees it. At the end of painting, the original image is compared to the painted one. Then the second girl paints. Again no instructions are given other than to paint the image. Immediately noticeable are the distinct differences in style and color. She finishes painting and her image is compared to its original file. The end of the video is intentionally not a black frame to allow for contemplation.
